I don't think many people give China Wall enough credit. So yeah, I would only come here for lunch because the dinner menu doesn't seem much different. So they have a salad bar, a cold seafood bar, sushi bar, dessert bar, dim sum/soup bar and 2 main entree areas. A pretty good selection if you're only paying less than $15 per person (tip included). Why would people come here? I can think of plenty of reasons: 1. It's less expensive than most other buffets unless you are thinking Panda Express / Ranch 99 (1 box style) 2. You have a dozen family members coming to visit with a bunch of kids and don't want to drive further north or south to find better food. 3. You never have to worry about waiting cause the place is huge. Its right next to Ranch 99 so you can do your shopping and have lunch in the same place. 4. This place definitely gives more variety, so if you're out and about with a few friends, its something other than fastfood. 5. This one doesn't happen to everyone but if you're anything like my family. They focus on eating certain foods like the crab legs, oysters, salmon sashimi, and fish. Ever seen people go back and forth getting only plate full of crab legs and oysters? That's me haha! The food isn't bad if, they don't cook a mound of fried rice and leave it under the heat lamps all day. They only cook enough so that the nice lady walking around the bars can tell the chef to make more. Which I think is really nice for this place so they try to keep it fresh. True that they overdo the flavoring on some things like the mayo on the mussels. But come on, if you take a look at the thing and see that much mayo on it, wouldn't you have the sense to take half the mayo off before putting it into your mouth? To me these things are just minor issues. Sort of like if I'm eating salmon nigiri and I think the chef uses too much vinegar rice, I would remove half before eating. If you live in the area, this is a nice family gathering spot, good for conversations, they don't mind you being a little loud, and drink some alcohol. The staff loves to conversate with you and talk about what's going on around the area so you stay in tuned with your locals.

Better than I expected! The place was super clean and the selection was pretty good. FYI - Sunday is dinner price all day long $12.99. Mon- Sat lunch is $7.99 from 11 to 3:30pm and dinner starts at 3:30pm on. I would come again if I was in the mood for Chinese buffet. Coconut shrimp was good, so was the shu ma.

After reading some of these reviews, I'm wondering, what were they thinking? They're goin' to a Chinese buffet and expecting good sushi? Expecting it to not be greasy. Yeah, makes sense. Granted, it's a buffet, but you're not gonna get Vegas-quality here. So try not to expect a whole lot, but rate it based on what you would get at another similar place...a buffet, not a Chinese or Japanese restaurant. This is probably one of the better ones in the Tri-Valley...which isn't saying alot. I did like it a lot better than Todai. Here's just a few of the reasons why: 1. Won Ton Soup - tasted like it should, light and not too salty, with the dumplings separated out so it doesn't sit in the broth all afternoon. 2. Shark Fin Soup - it actually had shark's fin in it, mixed with chicken and imitation crab, with a good thick broth. 3. Salt/Peppered Soft Shell Crab - not Dungeness, but the meat in the body was good. 4. Fried Chicken Wings - nicely fried to a golden crisp 5. Shrimp Mung Mein - cellophane noodles reminded me of Pansit 6. Pork-stuffed Mushrooms - the other white meat 7. Fresh fruits (oranges, strawberries, lychee, cantaloupe, grapes, etc) 8. Had a good amount of Asian diners there to give it some street cred 9. Lunch ~ $10 w/soda; Dinner ~ $18 10. BACON-WRAPPED SHRIMP - though they were small, they were good! It may be the typical Chinese buffet, but as far as buffets go, it's pretty good...if you get there early.
